Planted in the 1950s on St George rootstock, the van der Kamp vines are among the oldest vines in the U.S. The clones are non-specificically identified as "heritage" and the wines produced is approachable and complex given time.
On the nose, fresh raspberries, blueberries, bergamot, and citrus blossoms. On the palate, the wine opens with more of the same fruit and tea-like nuances accompanied by a salty, creaminess reminiscent of a fruit tart.
Texturally, I couldn't be more amazed by this wine. 75% Whole Cluster, and fermented with native yeast and bacteria, this wine has freshness, fleshiness, and elegance.
